The Chrysler Pacifica belongs to a class of vehicles known as luxury minivans, a niche category of practical family drivers that also offer upscale touches and elevated comfort. For the 2023 model year, the Pacifica continues to present itself as a classy and clever option if you're looking for a minivan that's a little bit special. It even comes in a plug-in hybrid model, which is perfect if you're looking to maximize your mileage. In this article, we focus on the gas-powered 2023 Chrysler Pacifica, providing an overview to help you understand its specifications, design, and features.

Specifications and Trim Levels

The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica is a slickly styled luxury minivan featuring a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine. With that kind of motivator under the hood, you're looking at getting 287 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, which should provide plenty of acceleration power for effective freeway merging. All varieties of the Pacifica include three-row seating, with a Stow ‘n Go design that allows you to stow both rear-row seats under the cabin floor.

As for trims, the 2023 Pacifica has four:

Touring

The base-level Touring trim has a starting MSRP of $37,620, and the seats feature cloth upholstery. Available only in front-wheel drive and on 17-inch wheels, it has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 19 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 22 mpg combined. Its standard safety and driver-assist features include pedestrian automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. Additional standard features are a hands-free power liftgate and power sliding side doors.

Touring L

The Touring L trim comes in at an MSRP of $41,775 and is available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. With the latter, you get an EPA-estimated 17 mpg in the city, 25 mpg on the highway, and 20 mpg combined. The upholstery sees an upgrade from cloth to leatherette, and the rear rows come with retractable sunshades. A second-row bench seat is an optional alternative to the standard captain's chairs. Aside from the standard safety and driver-assist features found in the Touring trim, you also get a 360-degree surround-view camera, front park assist, and parallel/perpendicular park assist.

Limited

Starting at $49,050, the Pinnacle Limited also gives you the option between front-wheel and all-wheel drivetrains and upgrades the upholstery a notch higher with genuine leather. Other highlights of this trim include a dual-pane panoramic sunroof and Chrysler's Stow ‘n Place roof rack system. The latter allows you to easily place and remove a roof rack as needed, with crossbars that are contained within the rails when not in use. Accessories such as a bike rack and luggage carrier are optional.

Pinnacle

The range-topping Pinnacle trim, available in front- or all-wheel drive, starts at $54,380. The upholstery here is a premium quilted nappa leather trim. The standard second-row captain's chairs have removable lumber support pillows and a suede headliner. In addition to these luxury upgrades, you get several advanced driver-assist features, such as the FamCAM interior camera, which gives you a clear view of what's going on in the second and third rows.

Exterior Dimensions and Design

In terms of size, the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica is roughly on par with other vehicles in its class. It measures 204.3 inches long and 79.6 inches wide (minus mirrors). The front-wheel-drive varieties stand at 69.9 inches tall, while all-wheel drive nets a little more height at 70.7 inches. With those dimensions, you have a good-sized luxury minivan with a curb weight of 4,521 or 4,883 pounds, depending on your drivetrain.

The exterior design also aligns with the current trend among minivans — a sleeker, sportier look compared to the boxlike pragmatism of older models. Both the front and back ends seem to take cues from the SUV segment, with a nose that juts out at a slightly starker angle and lines that curve gently to align with the edges and slopes of the body.

When it comes to colors, most of your options are the common shades of black, white, or silver, but you can opt for premium alternatives such as Velvet Red Pearl and Fathom Blue Pearl if you'd like a bit of eye-catching appeal.

Interior Dimensions and Features

The 2023 Pacifica's sizable exterior translates into a roomy interior. The total passenger volume measures 165 cubic feet, which outdoes some well-regarded competitors. With that kind of space, you can count on having room to stretch out no matter where you sit. Regarding legroom, for example, you get 41.1 inches in the front row, 39 inches in the second row, and 36.5 inches in the third row.

The cargo space is tremendous. You get 32.3 cubic feet of cargo volume with all rows up, which expands to 87.5 and then 140.5 cubic feet when you stow away the third and second rows, respectively. Aside from that, the Pacifica maximizes cargo potential with a wealth of slide-out bins, cubbies, and cupholders.

Another area of generosity for the Pacifica is the interior features. The base-level touring trim starts out with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, which is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The infotainment system runs on Chrysler's Uconnect 5, which features a reconfigurable home screen and integration with Amazon Alexa. As you move up the trim levels, you get everything in the base package plus additional features such as wireless smartphone charging and built-in Amazon Fire TV. If that weren't enough, your passengers can make use of up to a dozen USB ports in the cabin, including USB-C.
